Tazzas and plates

Plates vary in size and design, but generally are about 6 inches across and often with a cut star in the centre to decorate the pontil mark (where the plate was separated from the blowers rod at the end of the process). In the 18th century, tazzas were used to display jelly glasses. Today, if you can find an unbroken one, they make a wonderful cake stand, or as a centrepiece for fruit.
